Monolith Graffiti

Ensemble Aabat (Marie Delprat & Katelyn King) + Antoine Chessex + Arturo Corrales (2022)

This latest collaboration between the Ensemble Aabat (Marie Delprat & Katelyn King) and the two composers Arturo Corrales (Geneva) and Antoine Chessex (Zurich) proposes to approach the compositional process in a multiple and fragmented way. Monolith Graffiti is split into two main parts, that are designed as two complementary episodes of a single universe of sound. Both composers will present a brand-new work conceived in resonance with its otherness, thus leading to an immersive journey through sound. The aesthetic of the piece will take a monolithic approach – deconstructing a dichotomy of timbre, density and instrumental dynamics. Like two monochromes, the compositions by Antoine Chessex and Arturo Corrales alternately explore the saturation, volume, information overload and abundance of dense electro-acoustic material, but also the reduction and tension of dynamics overridden by a minimal gesture.
